From hopeful to scared, Hawaii voters brace for potential change over presidential election

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii voters have a range of emotions leading up to the election from hopeful to scared.
In Alewa Heights, Donald Trump signs dangle from a tree and there are sporadic posters for the democratic and republican candidates in the state house, but no signs for Kamala Harris.
It’s a signal that for president, there’s no swinging in blue Hawaii.
At a flag bearing house, 69-year-old James Barboza proudly displays his allegiance.
“We’ve got to stop the bleeding,” said Barboza.
“This man loves the country,” he added.
At 89-year-old Richard Nakaganeku’s house, there are signs for both local candidates running for the state house.
He says he’s supported democrats his entire life and voted for Kamala Harris saying she’s smart.
“I think the polls are screwed up. I think it’s going to be Harris,” said Nakaganeku.
“People in America are not that stupid,” he added.
Nakaganeku jokingly says he’ll move to Japan if Trump wins while Barboza says Americans should protect their pocketbooks and buy gold if Harris wins.
With just days before the election, Hawaii voters are watching for a wave of potential change.
